Fill your PLATE for WAR is a project within my classroom to help implement the new reading curriculum. PLATE stands for, Providing Literacy Acceleration Through Extended Reading Time and WAR stands for Writing About Reading.
We will use the backpacks to put the novels the students will use in book club and along with materials to document while reading. They will remain in the classroom as a means to keep all materials together and make transitioning around the room more functional. The bookmarks will be use to keep their place and the sticky notes will be use to make notes about the reading as they go along.
The inflatable chairs will be used to create a comfortable reading space for students. The students will read independently and in a group setting. The file folders with the prongs will be used to document the students reading level and the summaries of the reading. The anecdotal notes will also be placed in the folder to be reviewed by parents and administrators.
