In the 8th grade English curriculum, students engage in reading texts about the Holocaust and the Japanese Internment in the United States. In class, we read The Diary of Anne Frank. In addition to reading Anne's diary, we read "Salvaged Pages: Young Writers diaries of the Holocaust" by Alexandra Zapruder. In groups, students read a diary entry together and they create an anchor chart to show this young person's life.
Students use these posters to create visual aids to display during their class presentations. They are posted in the classroom to refer to as students individually engage in summative writing assignments for the unit. These presentations help students work on their speaking and presentation skills. Therefore, this project is requesting for Post-it poster paper and a chart easel to enhance comprehension.
