My students learn from the beginning of the year that they are in charge of their own learning. They come to recognize how they learn best, and to seek out opportunities to grow and deepen their self-awareness. In order for students to take ownership of and determine the best conditions for their success as learners, they must be presented with various seating options to experiment with in different settings throughout the day. Currently, my students have had the opportunity to experiment with 1 wobble chair, 1 ball chair, and chair bands at our Guided Reading Table. When given the opportunity, I have found that my students make wise decisions about where they learn best, and are motivated by these seating options.
My students are more engaged and invested in their learning when given the opportunity to experiment with these flexible seating options to find those that work best for their learning styles. Their focus and attentiveness increase, leading to higher quality work, the ability to set increasingly more challenging goals, and a rise in students' self-esteem as they experience success.
The products I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to grow in independence and make more effective learning choices. The wobble stools, ball chairs, and chair bands will allow students to move as they learn, not just at our Guided Reading Table, but throughout our classroom!
