Gone are the days of the hard, blue school chairs! Students learn better when they are allowed flexible seating in the classroom, where they can be comfortable while learning. Each of the items I have selected will allow flexibility to students when they are in small groups, moving around the classroom, or completing individual assignments. I have included seating such as, bean bag chairs, a saucer chair, and fun, comfortable chairs in different patterns - a variety for the students to use daily.
As teachers, it is our goal to ensure we have the students undivided attention, and I know I wouldn't be able to pay attention all day in those hard, uncomfortable desk chairs! I have included the carpet, because I feel it is essential to have them gathered together in one place at certain times of teaching - this is a comfortable alternative to get them in one place and engaged - it breaks up the monotony of the school day!
