My project involves the subscription to Scholastic's Science World magazines. The magazine aligns to rigorous NGSS standards in science and language arts. It highlights digital editions, video segments, skill sheets, breaking news and searchable archives.
With the addition of Science World magazine in my classroom, our high school students will be introduced to STEM topics (including Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) as well as career topics. The students will read about recent discoveries in science, which include, Physics, Biology, Earth Science and Chemistry.
Students will apply language arts skills to scientific texts and analyze scientific facts. This will increase science and technical vocabulary and apply their vocabulary to their writing skills. The project will enhance their competency in scientific reasoning, methods and observations of the world around them.
Students will continue to interpret and analyze real-world data from diagrams, charts and graphs. They will gain knowledge on how to plan and conduct scientific inquiry on a variety of science based topics.
Students will also be engaged in the engineering design process.
