Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Currently my students are able to choose to sit at different locations in the classroom that they feel is a good choice for them, however, they only have the option of a hard chair or the floor. When students are able to choose, they make good choices, work harder and are more engaged.
This flexible seating will give students a chance to choose where to sit to comfortably engage with a good book, work on math problems or write a story. This seating will help my 2nd graders master RL 2.10 and RI 2.9 among many other standards.
