Magic Tree House, Curious George, Stuart Little, Strega Nona, Too Many Tamales, Madeline, The Growing Tree, The Day the Crayons Quit! These books and a place for them to be stored will help my grateful angels to thrive academically, culturally, and emotionally with books for our classroom library. Reading a book in a cozy corner can provide the warmth and safety that many of my students don't have at home. My students love to sit on the carpet with a stuffed friend in their laps and read our small collection of books or pages copied from an on line source. The classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read to them on the carpet, they complete work there, and they read independently or to a friend! Every student book that is placed in our library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy reading time.
With these awesome new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of titles that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level and beyond.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading and their writing. This project will enrich their reading of adventure, and world and cultural knowledge through choice and variety.
