With a classroom color printer, I will be able to expand my curriculum with a variety of digital media art skills. I always want to implement lessons that will instruct students on skills they can use outside of the classroom. Last year, I taught students a block on photography. I was AMAZED at how fast the students picked up on fundamentals and the quality of their work. Sadly, we didn't have access to a printer that would print the quality photos the kids deserve to have printed and displayed.
In our low income school, several student's can't afford senior pictures, or graduation announcements.
As our program grows, we will be able to design, and print invitations for students who otherwise would go without. This of course would not be the only positive outcome of the printer. The closest reliable printer for our classroom is in the next building. Student's spent precious class time outside of the art room because the amount of time it takes to walk from building to building. We are thankful to have access to a printer, but it does not print in color.
