Letter recognition and sounds are a crucial part of the preschool program because they are so important for kindergarten readiness! Every week, my students learn about a new letter and letter sound. During circle time, we introduce the letter with a short video and song. The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs provide a fun, hands-on, and 3D representation of the letter sound we are learning. All my students will benefit from the Alphabet Tubs, but students with special needs in particular will benefit from examples that they can physically touch and explore.
The Learn the Alphabet Playdough Mats will provide another tactile activity to reinforce letter recognition skills while also improving fine motor skills. Preschoolers learn through play. My class already loves playing in the playdough center and these mats will only enrich the activity further. I know with this project, I will be able to increase letter recognition skills as my students prepare for kindergarten.
