My goal is to create spaces that promote deep learning and engagement through design. Research has shown how environment affects learning so I could design a flexible, comfortable, calm learning space that is conducive to everyone’s learning styles.
The traditional arrangement of row after row of desks is on the way out. Industrial, cookie-cutter furniture is being replaced by flexible seating options that are intentionally selected to empower students. With the materials on my wish list, I am planning to create a workspace to maximize the classroom’s potential for students who learn in different ways. Those workspaces may include:
Comfortable chairs for small group collaborative work. An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. On my wish list are stools for active sitting in class. Continuous movement relaxes the right side of the brain leading to better focus. These stools also improve posture.
I have on my wish list collaborative desks including 4 trapezoid shaped desks and one large rectangular desk. These desks empower the student to be an active participant in the learning process. I have also included 4 Zenergy Ball Chairs to create a common area, maybe on a large rug or around a large table, for class discussions.
In conclusion, the right school furniture can really make a difference.
Your support and dedication to students and their future is greatly appreciated.
