Many of my students have limited access to technology outside the classroom.
Having an iPad would give them an engaging and exciting tool to explore in our STEM classroom. Using the iPad and keyboard, they could learn to program in Swift (an Apple product-specific programming language). Additionally, the Apple Pencil will allow them to create their own drawings and graphics to incorporate into their games, apps, and webpages. This will highlight the importance of creativity in the engineering design process and allow them to create all aspects of their projects - from the code to the images! My goal is to teach my students the skills they need to succeed in our digital age: collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity!
We, like most school buildings in the US, are currently closed. While schools remain closed and all classes have moved online, these valuable tools would help me make better screencasts and lessons. Having the ability to write on the iPad screen with the Apple Pencil will make my screencasts much more engaging and effective.
