My students currently have desks which are in poor condition and differing heights. This makes it difficult for them to work in cooperative groups during math and literacy centers. Students have a hard time playing math games and participating in science experiments. Tables would make it possible for students to collaborate, play educational games which reinforce skills, and participate in meaningful conversations about what we are learning. Having tables in my first grade class would enable me to better implement differentiation and flexible grouping. I will be able to meet my students' learning needs and build a true classroom community.
