Giving students options of where to sit gives them more control over their learning. Our students work best when they are given more autonomy in the classroom. Fidget bands and wiggle seats on chairs allows them to stay seated longer during lessons while still providing needed sensory stimulation. Stability balls and soft seats provide students with more appropriate ways to move during lessons while still remaining engaged and on task. Yoga mats and lap desks provide students with a way to lay down while still completing work tasks. Some of the students prefer to stand and would benefit from standing desks. Many of my students also require visual timers to ease transitions between areas and tasks.
This project will make their learning environment better suit their diverse needs.
