An iPad is an invaluable tool for an English language learner.
The iPad allows students to access limitless technological resources for language learning. As an ENL teacher, I find the iPad to be a very valuable tool, especially when providing support in their general ed classrooms. Oftentimes, while in their general ed classroom, a student will come across a word or concept that they do not understand. Having an iPad at my disposal means that I can provide multiple visual examples for the vocabulary word or concept on the spot. It seems like a simple thing, but I cannot stress how valuable that is. This type of support helps English language learners to keep up with their content classes while they learn the language, which is not an easy task.
In addition to support in the classroom, the iPad will be used for individual language development and projects using such programs as: AdobeSpark, Lexia, RAZ Kids ELL Edition, and the many free online resources available.
