By having current, high-interest books in our classroom library, my students will learn that reading can be FUN! Students need a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction, multi-cultural and multi-level books at their disposal on a daily basis. I have seen a difference in students’ attitudes towards reading when they feel like they have a choice and can invest in what they are putting in their book boxes. My second graders will benefit in Grade 2 and beyond by learning to be lifelong readers and the first step is to get them interested! High-quality, high-interest books are a ticket to doing so!

About my class
