Teaching is the only profession that can be both the most rewarding and the most difficult at the same time. We take on students each year, love them like our own, and do our best to foster their learning and development. Given our devotion to our kids, teachers often spend hundreds of dollars per year in order to ensure they're supported. As I embark on my second year of teaching, I can say that I've already joined that list of educators. I teach in a school where more than 70% of students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Often times, their basic needs are not being met. They come to my classroom craving support, consistency, love, and an opportunity to learn and thrive. Unfortunately, before they even walk into my door, they're at a disadvantage. I've joined Donor's Choose in an attempt to lessen that disadvantage and provide them all with an equal learning opportunity.
