Every year, my A&P classes study the bones of the human body in detail. Our old skeleton is a valuable tool and it is falling apart. We'll need a new one by next year!
It is essential and fun to have a life-sized model of the skeleton in our classroom. It's a perfect model for reference and review, both for the bones and for the joints. Learning which bones are long bones, which produce red blood cells, which are movable or fixed...all of these topics are made so much easier when there is a large skeleton in the room to show examples of bones and movement types.
