We have a high population of students in our school community with severe trauma, emotional behavioral disorders and special needs. We work hard to meet our students where they are, both emotionally and academically. Much of the work we do is teaching the students how to identify, advocate, and regulate their strong emotions. This Light Table Sensory Bundle will support all of our students in learning new strategies to self-regulate.
We have to get creative with self-regulation techniques as emotional regulation is not a one size fits all model. We want our economically disadvantaged student population to have access to as many tools as they can while they are in our care. We will be able to have this project what we call our Connections Calming Corner along with several other tools.
