I recently went to a summer PD with a my teammate that is all about the Medal of Honor character program for teachers. I have never been so amazed and excited about something in my five years of teaching. The program is truly remarkable. The program provided us with almost all of the materials for free and taught us how to use them in the classroom. The one thing my colleague and I still need are the books Mr. Lincoln's Drummer to start off our year with the kids. We teach about 110 kids total but are only trying to purchase 2 class sets of 30. The story of Mr. Lincoln's Drummer is about one of the very first Medal of Honor recipients. It will tie into our standards, be a cross curricular book we can use in both reading class and social studies, AND teach all about character building!! This is a resource we plan to use not once but for many years to come. It will impact hundreds of students. I hope you will all consider donating to help purchase these books for our kiddos. They really are wonderful.
