Middle-schoolers are an especially self-conscious group. Using the individual whiteboards will enable each student to participate and for me to more easily assess and provide help for myriad activities. The whiteboards provide a temporary area to brainstorm and at least give it a try. I can easily see and provide feedback on what they are doing. I often hear from other teachers that the markers never seem to last, erasers seem to disappear, and the whiteboards slowly become stained from frequent use.
By donating to my project, you will not only help to improve the academic knowledge of my students but also help enhance their self-confidence and self-image one activity at a time.
These whiteboards will not only act as a renewable classroom resource assisting in reducing paper waste but will also help me more easily enhance our classroom culture by encouraging a growth mindset in the students. They will be able to simply try the task I am asking of them without the fear of permanence before they get my feedback and validation. This is particularly important for the range of students I teach. From my struggling 2nd-grade reading level students to my AP-bound, self-motivated students, they ALL need and thrive on teacher feedback and validation.
