Did you know that there are many developmental benefits when a child is immersed in exploratory art? When a student is actively engaged in creating a piece of work, he or she is strengthening their fine motor and decision making skills, as well as learning how to use their imaginations which helps to foster cognitive and social development throughout a child's early years!
Whether a student is using construction paper and broad tip markers to draw a story, or dough letter mats and number stampers to practice what was taught to them throughout the school day, this station will offer my students the opportunity to be constantly engaged and interested in learning without even noticing!
Students would also be taught to use this station as a cool down spot for when they need a moment to release frustration through the process of art. Items such as the pony beads which students can string, as well as the Wikki Stix that students can bend in any which way, will be ideal for this use of the space! I am also requesting a storage cabinet to store the materials.
Having an imagination station within my classroom will allow my students to create and appreciate their artistic abilities while having fun. In conclusion, this station would help develop generations to come in many ways! An imagination station will undoubtedly improve a child's social and academic success beyond their kinder year and I am excited for this station's potential within my classroom!
