Real-life stories can capture the interest of any young reader. Most importantly, stories about their culture are also stories that can become meaningful and purposeful! My goal is to inspire students to become lifelong lovers of books and use them as mentor texts to help them build up their writing skills. Literature books to connect with and interact with the author! To achieve this goal, students need their individual literature books. Students will use this mentor text to become better readers and writers. Most of the ELA lessons will be designed around The Circuit by Fransisco Jimenez. Students will need a copy of their own to mark the text, make it their own.
