When students have the choice of where they can sit in the classroom often they become more engaged and less prone to become antsy and distracted. Flexible seating in my classroom will be rewards based, students making good choices will get to choose where they work in the classroom. The floor cushions, rugs, and moon chair and bean bag will be part of two separate reading nooks where kids can sit and read independently during silent reading time. Students will begin class in their assigned seats and when they begin their independent work they make move to a seat of their choice if they are making good choices and being productive. Flexible seating will make my classroom more inviting and a more comfortable place to learn and grow as readers.
