Over the last three years of teaching specifically, Character Education has been enormously emphasized in my classroom. In addition to core subjects being taught, character education, such as anti-bullying, manners, and diversity are paramount topics that must be taught in the classroom. This year I will be teaching these important topics using a specific curriculum by Maria Dismondy called "Kindness Counts". To use her curriculum with fidelity, there are several books that need to be purchased. Your help in purchasing these books will help my students grasp each concept with greater depth.
In addition to the necessary books, my classroom is also in need of a rug for all students to sit on in front of my Smart Board during whole group lessons in all subject areas and our Kindness Counts curriculum. The carpet I found fits perfectly into the theme of Kindness I am desiring to foster throughout this school year and beyond. Your generosity will help my students not only be more comfortable by sitting on a carpet rather than a cold, tile floor, but it will also be a constant reminder of the tone of kindness and inclusion we are promoting in every aspect of our day this year.
