Assistive technology gives students the ability to read and write like their peers. Many students in the Hospital Homebound Program have sensory, intellectual, and social disabilities but they are able to perform academically using alternative measures. Students will be able to take assessments digitally using the touchscreen capability of the Chromebook. With this success, comes an increase in confidence. By donating to this project, you are allowing a student that is too medically fragile to attend school the opportunity to improve academic achievement while receiving academic instruction in his/her home. These devices are available for students in the traditional school setting but Hospital Homebound students are unable to attend school due to trauma, life-threatening diseases, and other medical concerns. The device that I have chosen is mobile, making it easy to take to each student's home.
