I want my students to have all the means necessary to be successful learners. As this new program begins, many materials resources are needed. Some of the materials will help students to have choices about how to express themselves while learning when they choose from various writing tools like Mr. Sketch scented markers, colored pencils, or regular pencils. Other materials will help students when they are not able to cope with their feelings because they will have access to art - aprons to keep them clean and items like paint, crayons, scissors to use as well as Play-Dough if they need a fidget. I am also wanting to promote excitement and engagement for new readers with having popular books in the classroom that will be at their guided reading levels. Finally, Dash and Dot robots will help students learn about the world of coding as it will continue to play an important part in their futures.
Building a new classroom is a big undertaking, but these students are worth it. Teaching is my passion. Teaching special education is a privilege. I have worked incredibly hard to ensure my classroom is a warm, welcoming, and safe space for each and every one of them. It is extremely rewarding to see the impact an inviting classroom with new materials can have on a student, but I wish I could do and give more to them. I care so much for these students and I hate watching them having to struggle not only with learning but with not having access to school materials, especially at such a young age. With your help, my students will be able to enjoy a full classroom. Any help is much appreciated.
