As a middle school team, we were looking for ways to make our classrooms more student centered. We noticed in our classes that we have students that are practically begging us to sit on a wobbly stool, a stand up desk, or in the teacher's chair with a promise to work their best. Turns out when we let them sit where they are comfortable, they will work better than we could ever expected.
Choice is the best option! We realized we needed to give our students options to sit where they learn best. We have already purchased stools, plastic chairs, pillows, and a variety of other seating options from IKEA. Last on our list are the 5 gallon buckets and the Gaiam balance balls. The balance balls are the student's number one requested seating option.
