Most of my student's behavior has gotten in the way of their academics going through school. They were never taught the essentials of math, reading, or writing. Now that they are beginning to understand their behaviors and being able to productively control them, we can now focus on academics.
They need to know essential life skills, my students have often been treated differently because of the classroom they are in. I want them to be able to function in society. When they grow up, there will be no ED isle at the grocery store, no ED line at the bank. Behavior always comes before academics. Even if we teach at a slower pace in my classroom, students still need the essentials to learn as all the other students have.
These manipulatives will help my students with hands-on​ learning. They love everything with movement and have shown to learn so much more when they are able to learn my movement, not by worksheets.
