The materials I am requesting for my classroom already have a purpose. Each item will be an integral part of our classroom library. The listening center will be used daily as a center rotation while I work with small groups. Students will listen to a story and follow along with a book. This will provide my students with a quiet and peaceful moment as their love of reading is nurtured. The fiction and non-fiction books will be on display in the library and used in thematic lessons throughout the year. At the beginning of the year, my students will browse through the illustrations, but as the magic of kindergarten happens they will begin sounding out and decoding words. Their pride in themselves will be evident with a smile! The letter and word tubs will provide my students with realia and manipulatives to help them make sense of the new language they are learning while improving their vocabulary and pronunciation.
It is my hope that these donations will help me create a warm and inviting classroom library full of wonder and possibility. My students are resilient and brave learners! They deserve a classroom library equipped with quality biliteracy materials. Help me work some kindergarten magic!
