These materials will help my students have more choice and ownership, and will add a level of excitement and comfort to our classroom environment. My students often work collaboratively, but find our current student desks bulky and difficult for projects or group work. Some students choose to stand over desks or work on the floor as a result. As a Language Arts class, we also do a good amount of independent reading and writing. Some students are sitting in desks for hours a day, and need better options that will allow them to move, sit, or stand as needed. By having more table and floor seating options, students can make positive choices as autonomous learners that add focus and engagement. The wobble stools will especially help my most active, "wiggly" students in a constructive way without added distraction to others. The low table, cushions, and rugs will allow floor seating options for students who feel more comfortable and focused in that setting. I am excited to see how the added choice in our classroom will positively impact student engagement, attitude, and overall success.
