Blocks! The most popular area in my classroom! The students are extremely excited when it is their turn in the block center. Sometimes, they end up in a rut when they can no longer come up with new ideas of things to build.
With the animals, roadways and community buildings this will help expand the students play and help them develop new ideas and structures to build in the block center. This addition will create novelty in the center and keep students engaged.
These items will also help build language as they play. Most of the students in my classroom have no language or a limited vocabulary. Placing these items in the block center will help develop new words. The staff will label the items and help them relate it to an experience outside of the classroom.
