These hands-on manipulatives will be used during learning/play centers throughout our day to review the skills that were taught in a fun way. Play allows for multiple opportunities and modes to reach the different standards in a creative and more positive atmosphere. I'm asking for giant tracing letters & numbers, alphabet sound tubs, and a listening center to be used in the writing, listening, ABC, reading & math center. These items will help in reviewing letters/sounds, recognize & writing numbers, & giving the students a chance to listen to a story of their choice and then work on comprehension skills when finished. It may look like we're just playing in Kindergarten but we are learning and reviewing in a fun way. Purposeful "play" is good for physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development in a child. It promotes higher level thinking skills, problem solving strategies, creativity, and promotes working together with one another. Each manipulative will be used as a teaching tool to engage the students in the hands-on learning environment. They can be used to introduce, practice, or reteach a concept.
