A classroom carpet is an essential piece to an early elementary school classroom. It is the only place in the classroom where the students can all sit together. On the carpets we would have morning meetings, introductions to content, and interact with the SmartBoard. It would also serve as a place for students to grab a clipboard and work in a comfortable environment. Having a large rug also makes the classroom seem more cozy, this can help it be a less intimidating place to young students. By having the students meet on the carpet, the teacher can deliver whole class instruction before the students break off into groups to explore the content deeper.
