Last year, I found myself not using student desks very much when it came to reading. My students really enjoy reading on the floor and coming together as a group to discuss and make connections to the text they are reading. My classroom theme is "Traveling the World" and I found the perfect reading rug that would be so useful to help me gather my students to talk about a great book they either read independently or even a book we are reading together. Making my classroom a comfortable space for reading is essential to my students desire and excitement to pick up a book and read. Having book bins for each of my students will also save my library from looking crazy at the end of every day and my students can hold on to that great book they can't put down instead of having to put it away.
