My students with special needs benefit from hands-on learning experiences to gain knowledge and skills in areas that will allow them to function in life outside of school.
Coffee Cart Fridays will allow my students to practice the skills of working in a kitchen, taking orders, delivering coffee, following directions, conversation skills, and collecting and counting money.
The items that I am trying to purchase for this project include a large coffee pot, coffee dispenser, coffee, syrups, and cups...all of the things that we need to begin our "coffee cart!" Once our cart is up and running, we will use the funds that we earn to buy additional supplies, as well as pay for other cooking projects. So, this project will kick start our efforts!
The money that we raise from our "Coffee Cart Fridays" will allow us to purchase food and other supplies that we will need in order to engage in other cooking lessons each week. By cooking or baking each week with my students, they will learn important life skills that go beyond the classroom - following directions, how to use a stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher, as well as learning about nutrition.
