Special Education Language Arts students are searching for their identify, through peer groups, school groups and reading in the Special Education Language Arts classroom.
It's difficult being a Junior High School student, but it is even more difficult when you have a special education identification attached to you.
Through identity reading, such as Ghost, Maniac McGee and The Paperboy, my students will learn that they have the right to make friends, to feel like they matter, that they are not so different and that anything is possible. I want to bridge the gap between what my students believe about themselves and teach them to imagine what they can be.
