I named this project Back to the Basics because the supplies that I have requested are things that are found in your everyday classroom and are the most basic items that are used daily. Many of our kids do not have the basics, but are still expected to perform at the same levels as other students, regardless of their situations. These materials will make it easier for me to provide them with other needs such as food, positive behavior incentives,and resources outside of the classroom. I strongly believe that our kids must have the basics in order to build a strong foundation, and this would be a start. If I can provide them with the basic needs in order to be successful in my classroom and life, I would be so happy. I chose items such as loose leaf paper, pencils, pens, markers, crayons,dry erase boards, and erasers because these are items that need replenishing often.
