Since becoming an instrumental music teacher, I've witnessed how music can help kids. It keeps them out of trouble, makes them want to achieve academically and teaches them about brother and sisterhood. I tell my kids daily that their instrument can take them a long way--a paid college education, a career as professional musicians, etc. The requested supplies and materials will immediately impact our program and give us the ability to open positions to additional students.
The mouthpieces, drumsticks, and mallets will be used to give kids who aren't able to afford the necessary materials an opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument. The other supplies such as valve oil and reeds will help with instrument maintenance and help out kids who are interested in playing a woodwind instrument. With the kids not having to stress about why they don't have or trying to figure out a way to get the necessary supplies for class, your generosity will allow kids to concentrate on learning more about the art of music, its origin and how it can positively impact their lives.
