In my 8th grade math class, we use calculators on a daily basis. Additionally, students need to use calculators to complete all homework assignments. Currently, we have a class set of old calculators that are in poor condition.
The donations to this project will greatly improve student academics and aid students in solving real-world mathematical problems. Newer calculators that students can check out will greatly enhance student comprehension and participation. Each student will keep the same calculator all day and night. That feeling of having a calculator that is there all year will do wonders for their self-esteem and enhance their work ethic because they don't have to worry about finding a calculator to use at home.
By implementing this take-home calculator service, my students will begin to see themselves as true mathematicians. We will use these calculators to solve real-world mathematical problems. As a teacher, I have done volumes of research that proves that students who can solve these type of problems become life-long critical thinkers. Your help with this process would be greatly appreciated and would help promote critical thinking.
