Language acquisition does not happen by simply reading text books and regurgitating key words and phrases. My students need to physically get involved with the language! They need to manipulate materials with their hands and work with the concepts in more ways than one.
Interactive journals are a way for kids to explore new concepts in the language, literally "interact" with the language, be creative in their learning, and so much more!
These journals require Mead compositions books to start off. Markers allow for the students to add some more color and draw out their ideas. Scissors give them even more creativity and the glue allows them to add extras to their journals. These journals give them the space to independently respond to concepts. The journals even help them out with life skills! They teach the students organizational skills and note-taking skills!
