My students are in need a various materials that will help them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. They need of a variety of books for beginning readers, which will enable them to practice literacy skills at their individual reading level with quality, multicultural literature that keeps them interested and engaged! The mobile organization station will provide students with book boxes as a way to organize and hold the books they are reading.
Students will not only gain essential literacy skills from a wide range of books, but they will learn how to self-regulate their emotions and behaviors with the help of specific read-aloud books. These well written books will prompt discussion pertaining to self-esteem and self-worth, as well as ways to practice self-control so everyone can learn in our room. For example, My Mouth is a Volcano, will help students choose the best time to use their voice. Tools like a timer will help us learn to manage our time and prepare for the next activity. A breathing sphere is a great visual to help students slow their breathing and take a deep, calming breath during a morning meeting or a transition. Together these tools will help us be successful (while having a blast!!) in kindergarten.
