My class is made up of a culturally diverse group of students with a variety of interests and ideas. One thing they have in common is a strong desire to read and learn more about Science and History. On the first day of school, I had a student ask me if I had nonfiction books in my room because they were his "favorite" to read. This made me consider whether or not I had enough to meet his needs. After a quick inventory, I realized that an overwhelming majority of our classroom library was fiction and the lack of interesting, expository text was apparent.
