On the rare occasion that my students get to interact with technology, they automatically light up and their engagement increases. Kindles are the best alternative for my students to gain access to technology. I have specifically chosen Kindle over Chromebook for several different reasons. Firstly, turning the pages is easier for young children's hands. Secondly, print and photographs can be expanded and/or reduced to further analyze details. Lastly, orientation automatically changes to meet the needs of each book.
My students would love getting their hands on these Kindles. They will be learning to read and speak English while engaging with books specifically designed to meet their instructional needs. The technology itself will Increase the English language learners ability to work independently (e.g., writing about author’s purpose, reading to find text dependent evidence, sequencing, working with a partner) and increase on-task behavior
