Student athlete mental health is a focus for the upcoming school year. With the increased pressures of social media combined with the stress of academics and playing multiple sports, our school is taking steps to ensure that our student athletes are successful and able to handle adversity to hopefully make it an easier transition from high school to college.
Using several books for awareness and training our school wants to raise awareness of student athlete mental health and the pressures and stresses that student athletes endure. To this end, using the book "What Made Maddy Run," our school will conduct mental health awareness training for our coaches. This will be combined with additional training and steps to be taken at the school level including establishing a servant leadership program for our student athletes and creating stronger ties between our high school athletes and younger athletes at our feeder middle and elementary schools.
