Students come to me everyday with strong emotions that they need to understand and learn to keep in control. Having items like a sand tray allows the students to relax and manage their strong emotions while playing in kinetic sand. Students of all ages play in the sand while talking through their feelings. It helps them to regulate their strong emotions. Students love putting their hands in the sand while creating sand things.
Squeeze and squishy balls, fidget toys and motions items can also allow students to be distracted from the strong emotions while learning to talk about and regulate their feelings. Students squeeze balls while working through their emotions. The stress balls and fidget toys allow the students to use positive strategies while working through feelings.
