I have been the elementary art teacher in an inner-city district for 13 years, and my students have never had the opportunity to paint on canvas. I have tempera paint, miscellaneous painting supplies, old paintbrushes, and a ton of enthusiasm and ideas. All I need are the canvases!
I know my 4th and 5th grade students will love exploring painting on a canvas, just like the artists we study! I am especially eager to explore expressive self-portraits on canvas, giving my older students artistic freedom to create a painting that represents their own unique identity.
Continuing on with the theme of painting and self-expression, I would love liquid watercolors and watercolor paper for my younger artists, grades 2nd and 3rd. I have never been able to afford watercolor paper for my students, and this would be an awesome opportunity for them to explore and learn about the media on paper for which it was intended.
