Reading is the very cornerstone of civilization. If you can read, you can learn anything! This is what makes the Reading Lab so important for students as an extra opportunity during the week to enhance their reading fluency and comprehension.
If the students in my classroom are not reading on grade level, it will directly impact their learning in every other subject. The Reading Lab offers students the opportunity to generate positive associations with reading that can be transferred to every other subject in their regular classroom. My goal is to instill a love for reading in my students so that they are able to learn at high levels.
In my group rotations, students have the opportunity to engage with technology that is suited to their individual needs. I have requested headphones in this project so that the students can focus on the reading program during their rotations. I have also requested chart paper to help with solidifying reading concepts through the use of anchor charts. The time tracker and alphabet stamps will both work to set my students up for success in their groups and keep them learning in the right direction. I will be able to use the label maker and drawer cart to make sure all 600+ children have organized material and resources!
