The use of sensory items is helpful to students that struggle to focus or become anxious in the classroom. These items help students with Autism and ADHD to relieve stress and refocus so that they are able to pay attention to instruction and assigments they need to complete. Giving students with special needs a place in the classroom where they can take a short break will help them to feel safe. Students with special needs need to feel safe in their surroundings so that they are able to learn and not worry. Providing a familiar space with items that help them focus and feel less anxious will foster an environment in which they can learn.
