Time for Kids magazine includes real life articles that help introduce students to current events while also providing practice decoding nonfiction text. Nonfiction text can present difficulties to struggling readers when they are expected to dissect facts and details and answer comprehension questions based on what they have read. I am hoping to use these materials as a way to introduce a new nonfiction text each week and have discussions about current events. The shorter articles in Time for Kids will be quick to read, but offer the fact rich text we need to be able to increase nonfiction comprehension
