This project will transform the way learning takes place in our classroom. Flexible seating will allow my students to wobble, rock, bounce, and learn.
Allowing my students to make choices that best fit their learning style will increase student engagement and time on task. The wiggle seats, bean bag chair, foam mats & peanut balls will allow students to take control of their learning and find a classroom work space that works best for them. They will be focused while releasing extra energy. For example, the peanut balls allow my young students to bounce, while participating in whole group literacy activities. Research proves that an active child is an active learner. I will utilize the sit spots to teach spacial awareness, while still allowing students to make a seat choice throughout our classroom.
The materials I have chosen for our classroom reflect what is needed to create a successful and positive learning environment. The environment shapes experiences, and I want students to view learning as a fun, meaningful, and creative process.
